Approach
At the core of the studio’s philosophy lies the belief that architecture begins on-site, with a felt relationship to the surroundings, people and place. Atmosphere, space, proportion, connections, light and materials are not afterthoughts — they form the foundation.
Architecture is understood as a spatial, material, social and cultural act. It belongs to a specific context and is shaped by its environment, time, use and memory. Every project begins with an open dialogue between the site, light, materials, and human experience. Through close engagement with these elements, the studio seeks to create architecture and projects that are grounded, humble and quietly poetic — where meaning is discovered, not imposed.
The Studio
Jim Brunnestom STUDIO is an architectural practice rooted in the Danish design tradition, shaped by years of experience at leading offices in Copenhagen and through independent projects across Scandinavia. The studio engages in projects across scale and context, from private homes to interiors and larger developments.
The practice is independently run by Jim, and often collaborates with architects, artists and craftspeople in interdisciplinary processes that center on materiality, narrative, and spatial experience. Jim’s background also includes formal training in construction engineering, as well as practical experience working as a craftsman and exhibition builder — experience that informs the studio’s deep sensitivity to the processes of creation, materials, and atmosphere.
